Car Corral at the 61st Running of the Rose Cup Races, July 9 and 10
This will be PIR’s 61st running of the Rose Cups -- it’s a racing extravaganza, and also an opportunity for a Club Corral – a specified area set aside for a club (like, for instance, Mt. Hood Miata Club) to park, show their cars and generally hang out together. (Plus, it’s a great opportunity to see a lot of great cars of other descriptions, in their Car Corrals!) This year’s racing classes will include
- Rose Cup Feature Race: From Stock Cars, to Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Shelby GT350s, Cobras, Porsches, BMW’s, Nissan’s and more. Three races within one race: RC1, RC2, RC3, with prize money up for grabs in all three. The Gary Bockman Pole Award will be settled Saturday afternoon with an exciting new single lap qualifying session for the fastest five qualifiers.
- Spec Miata: Famous for tight battles and finishes that are just inches apart, these Mazda Miatas are also in a fight for a season-long championship in the Northwest Spec Miata Tour.

To secure your tickets, follow this link and purchase Car Corral tickets – they’ll be good for two people on Saturday and Sunday in the Car Corral area. PIR indicates that there’ll be a parade lap, but isn’t specific about when that might occur. Naturally, show Mt. Hood Miata Club as your club affiliation.
Things that are good to bring with you: lawn chairs, water, sunscreen, hat and enough clothing layers to comfortably bridge the gap between early morning and late July afternoon.
Anyone who’s interested and intrepid is invited to join other like members for breakfast at Shari"s Restaurant 9730 N Whitaker Rd, Portland, OR 97217 at 7:00 AM. Those who are less interested or intrepid can join us at a more civilized hour by presenting your registration documents at the PIR gate.
