The Cemetery Crawl has grown to be a fun annual event that occurred over most of the last several years. It is a combination costume party and scavenger hunt where the members do a run to 3 or 4 cemeteries looking for clues. Participants are encouraged to dress in costumes and decorate their cars, and there have always been innovative and fun responses to these challenges. Prizes are awarded for best costume, best decorated car and the most clues answered.
Halloween is right around the corner, and the Mt. Hood Miata Club is ready. This year’s Crawl will begin and end at the McMenamin’s Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, OR. (it has a big parking lot and a good restaurant), and it was/is in one of Oregon’s hot spots for pioneers.
The roads in that area are fun to drive. We’ll be passing through, between and over the Tualatin Hills (using about 60 miles of roads that we’ve used before on runs, and that at least one of us (me) enjoyed a lot). We’ll build on last year’s practice of participants following the route in both directions, so there’ll be lots of opportunities to wave at passing shiny Miatas!
Prizes. As with last year there’ll be prizes (modest to be sure) for best costumes (cars, people, and antennas – yes, there’ll be a prize this year for the best dressed antenna!), as well as for fact reporting based on a series of cemetery-based questions. And this year we may actually give the prizes to the winners!!!
It’s sure to be an event that will be discussed for years (in a good way, hopefully) -- You’ll definitely want to be there!
