‘Tis Halloween Season and time for Miataites to abandon most senses of propriety and commit to a day of reverie of the sort that only they can appreciate.  Important stuff – driving interesting roads, visiting many of the departed from years and decades past, cavorting with similarly minded spirits, and dressing in ways that reflect the season.  Yes, it’s the Cemetery Crawl!

This year’s event will begin and end at ilani, near La Center (I-5’s Exit 16 when approaching from the south).  It will be a good drive over some great roads and enabling visits to four local cemeteries.  Cemetery Crawls differ from many runs in that participants tackle the route independently.  Stops at the four grave yards enable responses to questions about various of the inhabitants.

And prizes!  This year will see awards given as follow, with all costume awards selected by event particpants –

• Best Costume - Female
• Best Costume – Male
• Best Costumes - Couple
• Best Car Costume
• Highest score on the Cemetery Quiz

Here are the day’s particulars:

• Meet at 9:45 in the ilani parking lot in area B-6 – it’s ‘way in the back of the parking lot when arriving from I-5.This is when we’ll vote on the Best Costume awards.
• Begin staged departures at 10:30
• When done, we’ll return to ilani, where Tom’s Urban restaurant will have tables reserved for us.
