The Windy Ridge Run has been cancelled and replaced with the Plan B Run.
Plan A (AKA “Windy Ridge Run”) just didn't work out. We've known for quite some time that an important road in accessing Windy Ridge Viewpoint from the south had been closed due to a landslide. However, Google has indicated the existence of an alternative route that would have enabled us to use the Club-famous Wind River Hwy as part of the run. All was well until the pre-drive, and it became clear that a number of miles of the new route are unpaved. That, in conjunction with predicted weather for Saturday which would have obscured the view from the Windy Ridge Overlook led Fred to decide to abandon that exercise.
Enter Plan B. This is going to be a fun run, rain or shine -- and with paved roads! We'll start at Wilsonville's Fred Meyer, drive over Pete's Mountain and Bald Peak, through the northern Tualatin Valley and ultimately to lunch at McMenamin's Rock Creek. In all, we'll cover about 50 miles - a few of them will be twisty and all of them will be interesting. An excellent drive.
