Newport Loyalty Days Parade & Fun Weekend at the Coast
Last year MHMC participated in the Newport Loyalty Days, the first parade that we had a chance to participate in since the onset of the pandemic in 2020. It was a blast! It turned out to be great time with a fun weekend at the beach. The Newport Loyalty Days Parade Newport Loyalty Days is still happening and why not experience it again? The parade this year is on Saturday, May 2 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. For those of you who have not experienced the thrill of showing off their cars, tossing candy to the crowds and seeing the smiling faces of the kids wowing at seeing a group of Miata’s, there is nothing better. Not to mention a fun weekend at the coast. Join us in showing off our little beauties and enjoying a fun weekend at the coast.
The parade is on a Saturday and you have the choice of going early on Friday, spending the weekend and returning on Sunday (or later), or going Saturday for the parade (and returning whenever). I myself have booked a VRBO in Yachats for the weekend, arriving on Friday and returning on Sunday. Your accommodations are up to you.
On Friday, I will be leading a run to Newport, leaving North Plains at 11:00, stopping in Pacific City for lunch, playing on the beach and then arriving in Newport around 4:00 pm.
On Friday evening we will have a group dinner at a great seafood restaurant on Newport Bay.
On Saturday morning we will meet at a local Mazda dealership to detail, decorate and display our sports cars. In the afternoon it will be on to the parade with a BBQ afterwards. In the evening we will have a spaghetti feed at our VRBO in Yachats, a large home perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean with a hot tub and plenty of room to relax and enjoy the ocean. And you are all invited.
On Sunday I will be leading a run home along the Alsea River and Kings Valley Highways on the way to Portland, again you are all invited. Details to follow.
Getting to Newport on Saturday, May 2 for the parade is up to you. I have put together a 2-hour run leaving from the Wilsonville I-5 Southbound Rest Area at 8:00 am arriving in Newport in plenty of time to prep for the parade. I would be glad to share that run with a MHMC member willing to step up and lead a group run.
Sounds like a another fun weekend. Hope you can join us.
