McKenzie Pass Run - UPDATED 8/11/21 -- CANCELED

UPDATED 8/11/21 - THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED/CANCELED DUE TO PREDICTED HIGH HEAT AND SMOKE FROM WILD FIRES.
Come join Tracy for this fantastic Miata adventure.  Meet at the Molalla Safeway parking lot at 8:30AM for a 9:00AM departure. 

The route will go through Detroit where we will have our first rest stop after approx. 1.5hrs.  The second break will come at the Dee Wright Observatory on the breath-taking McKenzie Pass after another approx. 1.75hrs.  There will be time for the short hike up and photo ops in the awe inspiring lava formations before heading out again to Sisters and lunch (about 35mins. away).

UPDATE 7/3/21  -  Late lunch/early dinner is now at the Food Truck Pod in Tumalo called "The Bite".  As with most "picnic" runs of late, have some folding chairs in your Miata's trunk because seating on a Saturday afternoon may be scarce.  The run ends here so be prepared to find your way home or to your overnight accommodations.

For those not yet comfortable enough to overnight in rented facilities; there should be enough time in the afternoon to return to your home.
For those planning to overnight, you are responsible for booking your own accommodations.  Update 7/11:   Please note that the McKenzie Pass is NOT an overnight run.  If you wish to stay overnight please consider staying in Prineville and if you have the time, joining the Jergesens and Van Gundys for the "Beyond McKenzie Pass Run to the Painted Hills"  We are told that the rates are more reasonable than the Bend/Sisters area.  The initial plan is to go over McKenzie Pass on Saturday as part of this run and then proceed to Prineville to stay the night.  On Sunday there will be a separate run starting there to visit several other Oregon wonders.  You are referred to this following run.  See "Beyond McKenzie Run" and register for that separately.  There should be time to change your lodging reservations from Sisters or Bend TO Prineville.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
